Julie Hobbs – nee Pullin – Club Coach Award
(Level 4) - Club Head Coach
Julie grew up within the Club, playing in junior and senior teams for Club and County. She turned professional in 1991 and on the WTA Tour, her highest world singles ranking was 123 and doubles, 57. She was the British Singles champion twice and British Number One for several years. Julie was forced to retire from the professional circuit in 2003 with a shoulder injury. Julie 'heads up' the club coaching programme, senior and junior and is also the Sussex 10 and under girls’ captain.
Jack Palmer - Club Coach Award (Level 4)
Jack is a former Sussex junior player. In 2005 and 2006 he spent six months coaching at the Evert Tennis Academy in Florida where he gained valuable experience. He is the Sussex under 10 boys Assistant Captain.
Ben Reeves - Performance Coach Award (Level 3)
Ben started playing tennis aged 3 years at Pavilion and Avenue and represented the club in all the junior teams and then the Men's senior team for many years. He was a former national standard junior and his biggest highlight was beating Andy Murray in a doubles match in Bournemouth. Ben has also won junior and senior Sussex titles and completed his Level 3 DCA in March 2008.
James Hope - Performance Coach Award (Level 3)
James grew up at Pav & Ave and started helping with Saturday Junior Squads at 12 years of age. He won the Sussex County 14 & Under junior doubles title and is the Club’s Schools Outreach Programme Coach, coaching weekly pupils from 3 different local schools.
Andrea Pullin – Development Coach, Award (Level 3)
A former Club junior, she has played in and captained the Club’s Ladies teams for many years. A qualified State Registered nurse and Sick Children’s nurse, Andrea has coached at the Club for some twenty years. She handles the administration for all junior squads run by the Club.
Anne-Cecile Debrach-Schneider (part time) - Performance Coach (Level 5)
A former ITF and USA university player, Anne was ranked 15th NCAA in Western Region States in 1999. Anne is a Sussex County player and has been coaching for 13 yrs in USA, France and England. She is currently studying Medicine at Brighton and Sussex Medical School.
